The terroir of Ambonnay

In Ambonnay, the vines have been pampered since the 4th century.

Ambonnay comes from "Amboniacus", the name of the Roman officer who noticed the excellent exposure of the hillsides and planted the first "vines" there.

From vineyard

To the northeast, the Montagne de Reims forms a crescent connecting Epernay to the south of Reims. Pinot Noir reigns supreme on these gentle slopes, the best of which face east and south.

Ambonnay, one of the most interesting terroirs, produces 100% Pinot Noir champagnes - "blancs de noirs" - vinous, but fine and balanced.

Pinot Noir

The resulting wines are distinguished by their roundness and fruitiness, bringing body and power.
The vineyard is composed mainly of Pinot Noir, with a small proportion of Chardonnay. The chalky subsoil, combined with the microclimate, makes it an exceptional terroir for the production and maturation of Pinot Noir.

Chardonnay

In Ambonnay, Chardonnay wines are characterized by their finesse and lightness, bringing minerality and freshness. Slow-evolving, it is the ideal grape variety for aging wines.
